Omio estimates that many products can now be built in roughly 20% of the time previously required. Projects that used to take several developers a quarter can now be done by one developer in around a month. That's not a vague aspiration - that's Tomas Vocetka, Omio's CTO, describing what happens when you let Codex touch every stage of software delivery.

From search bar to conversation layer

Omio connects travelers with trains, buses, ferries, and flights across 3,000+ transportation providers in 47 countries. Traditional travel planning forces users to juggle multiple sites and compare modes manually. Omio decided AI should be the interface. In 2023, they launched one of the earliest travel experiences on ChatGPT, wiring OpenAI models directly into live inventory and pricing data. Ask "What's the fastest route from Rome to Florence?" and you get real, bookable itineraries grounded in verified transportation data, not a static guide.

Codex isn't a toy - it's the assembly line

Rolling out ChatGPT to employees was the teaser. Codex is where the real work gets done, says Vocetka. Every engineer now uses Codex throughout the full software development lifecycle: research, planning, coding, testing, code reviews, monitoring, maintenance. Omio is also building custom connectors that pull internal systems and workflows directly into AI tools, moving beyond information retrieval into execution. The result? Teams can test new concepts, validate customer needs, and iterate before making larger investments - all at a fraction of the previous cost and time.

People stay in charge, AI accelerates the clock

Omio’s broader goal is to become AI-native, not by bolting AI onto existing processes but by rethinking how work gets done from the ground up. Vocetka is clear: "All functions need to rethink how they do the work." That includes non-engineering teams, where Codex adoption is spreading. The company maintains a hard rule: "The responsibility and accountability stay with people." AI helps develop faster, analyze faster, decide faster - but humans stay accountable.

Omio is already shipping conversational commerce at scale, and the internal productivity gains are compounding. With development cycles compressed from a quarter to a month, expect Omio to test and ship more travel features faster than any legacy booking platform can match.
